History Of Global Bikes

Global Bikes was founded in the early part of 2001 by Alan Lepak.  Alan had previously worked in the bicycle industry as a service manager and store manager for roughly 10 years prior to going out on his own at the age of 25.  The first location was a small one man operation that quickly grew in both size and business due to Alan's business model of putting the customer first and embracing anyone that is interested in riding on two wheels.   While Alan Lepak is the founder of Global Bikes it is important to note that he didn't grow Global Bikes into what it is today alone.  Brandee Lepak joined the adventure shortly after the opening of the first location and together they have built Global Bikes into one of the top bicycle dealers in Arizona.

2001 - Gilbert Location opens

2003 - Global Bikes sells 1st item online

2006 - Chandler South location opens

2007 - Gilbert Shop doubles in size

2008 - Gilbert shop adds another one thousand square feet

2011 - Chandler North location opens 

2013 - Ahwatukee location opens

2014 - Rental Bike business begins 

2015 - E-Bikes begin

2016 - 15 Year Anniversary! 2016

2016 - GB1 Expansion number three, now 5500 sf

2016 - Ranked Top 25 Specialized Dealer in the US

2017 - GB2 Shop remodel

Global Bikes in the Community

Global Bikes takes an active role in the community by providing support to organized rides and other local events. You can always find us changing tubes and doing complimentary on-the-spot repairs. Going beyond the neighborhood, Global Bikes is a proud sponsor of the The Mountain Bike Association of Arizona, BikeMS, Tour de Cure, Tour de Mesa and a number of community bike rides and races.  

Global Bikes owner Brandee Lepak is also the founder of  Trips for Kids Phoenix.  Trips for Kids Phoenix, is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization with a mission to use bicycles as a vehicle for lessons in confidence building, achievement, health, fitness and environmental awareness through the development of practical skills and the simple act of having fun. Trips For Kids Phoenix provides the materials, moral support and inspiration that an individual or group needs to help disadvantaged kids discover the joy of mountain biking.

The Future

Global Bikes looks forward to increasing our footprint in both terms of shop locations and the level of community support in which provide.   We have plans to further commit to our beginner ride series with an evolved course curriculum as well adding to our clinics schedule in general as we believe that this type of customer engagement is the key to successful bicycle retailing.   Global Bikes also looks forward to increasing the impact of our nonprofit,  Trips for Kids Phoenix, in the community by setting an annual goal of getting 1000+ riders out on bikes.
